And it’s not just our loft flooring that is award-winning, our founder Andrew has won an award for his achievements, too!
IoD Scotland: Highly Commended Director of the Year 2021
We couldn’t have been more proud of Andrew when he was Highly Commended in IoD Scotland’s Director of the Year Awards 2021! It was amazing to be chosen among so many inspiring and talented people from Edinburgh & the Lothians.
Judges thought that Andrew “really is an exceptional director who has both the drive and ambition required to make his business excel. He is truly invested in all members of his team.”
WeDO Scotland: Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2019
Business founder Andrew Johnstone was delighted to receive the ‘Young Entrepreneur Of The Year’ accolade at the WeDO Scotland Awards in May 2019.

“We were absolutely delighted to present Andrew Johnstone with our Young Entrepreneur Award. He impressed the judges with his success to date, his future plans for the business, his commercial acumen and his focus on delivering the best possible levels of service for his customers.”
In its second year of trading, the company supported by Edinburgh Business School Incubator, has grown rapidly and is now providing a nationwide service, fitting over 400 raised floor systems and ladders each year from the Borders to the North of Scotland.
Ideal Home Show Winner

The Guinness Partnership
The Guinness Partnership is one of the UK’s largest affordable housing providers. Chris Wait, Head of Programme and Planning for Guinness South, said:
“We find that there’s a lack of knowledge out there about the importance of protecting loft insulation, as it doesn’t perform as well if it’s squashed. The LoftZone platforms provide that protection and they also provide safe access routes to components that need repairing; such as water tanks. We intend to continue using the systems when replacing roof coverings.”
Green Deal Pioneer Places
Green Deal Pioneer Places fitted LoftZone’s Stoorfloor into a pilot scheme in Brighton and you can see how it went in, and a householder’s review in this video.
Citizens’ Advice Bureau
LoftZone won first prize from the Citizens’ Advice Bureau in 2013, for best new idea in their Big Energy Savings Week competition.
The Carbon Trust
LoftZone is grateful to Carbon Trust for supporting us when we first started. They backed LoftZone because of the huge carbon saving potential that came from using our product. You can read more about that on our Environment page.
Yorkshire Energy Services
Yorkshire Energy Services is an award winning energy efficiency company with a strong social purpose and was managing a project to clear and insulate lofts and provide a safe storage platform, to help vulnerable householders. This proved much more popular than providing loft insulation alone. Sarah Thomas, Project Manager at YES Projects said “We wanted to add the storage platform solution to the loft clear and installation project, so that the householder’s possessions could be put back in the loft without compressing the new insulation. Compressing the insulation means that it does not work to its full potential.”
Building and Construction Review UK
The trade journal, Building and Construction Review UK, gave LoftZone first prize in its Product Innovation Award 2014.
The Innovation Institute
LoftZone was awarded “Most Innovative Business 2013” by The Innovation Institute. The award was sponsored by BASF and was presented by TV personalities Maggie Philbin (Tomorrow’s World) and Gareth Mitchell (BBC Click).
Oxford University Business School
Oxford University’s Business School, in conjunction with market research company Frost and Sullivan, held a competition in 2012 for the invention that most helped the environment. StoreFloor won first prize.
The Mayor of London’s Sustainable Development Commission selected LoftZone as one of its companies to support in 2014.
